Interactive course for Language Teachers

CEFR Alignment for Teachers In the Age of AI

Free Course

Build confidence in making informed CEFR alignment decisions with generated materials.

This hands-on, interactive course helps language teachers align, evaluate and adapt generated texts.

It will strengthen your ability to make pedagogically sound decisions for learners at different CEFR levels.

Developed with CEFR specialists Thom Kiddle and Elaine Boyd, you’ll engage with the CEFR descriptors themselves, their features and what differentiates one level from another. You’ll also have the opportunity to practise discriminating between descriptors at different levels in the same scale, including the ‘plus levels’.

Why Take This Course?

With the growing use of AI, teachers now have new possibilities to create just-in-time, context-specific and personalised resources. However, the technology only goes so far. As an outcomes-based framework, the CEFR still requires informed teacher judgement to determine whether such materials are suitable for learners working at a given level.

This course reflects a shared commitment among Avallain, the TeacherMatic team and the authors at the Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE): to strengthen teachers’ knowledge and skills in using the CEFR and to uphold the framework’s key principles in language education.
